Everyone knows that dogs love peanut butter! Unfortunately peanut butter is very inconvenient to carry around with you. That’s why we’ve made our Peanut Butter and Butternut treats.
Peanut butter is a rich source of vitamin E, pantothenic acid, niacin, and vitamin B6. Vitamin E is an important antioxidant and helps the immune system fight off infection. Pantothenic acid (or vitamin B5) is important for a wide variety of biological processes, including regulation of the metabolism. Niacin and vitamin B6 help convert food into energy and are important for the metabolism of fats and glucose.
Peanut butter also contains high levels of manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, and copper. Manganese plays an essential role in development, the metabolism and the antioxidant system. Magnesium is important for strong bones and healthy nerves. Phosphorus is necessary for the development of strong bones and teeth and of healthy muscles. Copper maintains the proper functions of organs and the metabolism. Zinc is important for the skin, the gastrointestinal tract, the brain and central nervous system, the immune system, and the reproductive system.
In addition, peanut butter contains moderate amounts of thiamine, iron, and potassium. Iron is essential for healthy red blood cells, which carry oxygen to the body. Potassium and thiamine are necessary for the healthy function of all living cells and tissues.
Butternut contains high levels of vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin C, magnesium, calcium, potassium. Vitamin A is important for vision, growth & development, immune function, and reproduction. Vitamin C is important for the immune system, skin & hair, and connective tissues such as tendons and ligaments. Calcium is an essential component of bones and is also necessary for healthy muscles, circulatory systems, and digestion, as well as the production of blood cells. Butternut is also a good source of vitamin E, thiamine, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid, and manganese.
Peanut butter and butternut are cholesterol free, so our Peanut Butter & Butternut treats are a great choice if you’re watching your dog’s cholesterol levels. We use xylitol-free peanut butter in our treats. (Xylitol is a sugar substitute which is safe for humans but dangerous for dogs.)
